Ukrzaliznytsia purchased an additional 10 thousand tons of rails: how this will affect track repairs

According to Міністерство інфраструктури: Ukrzaliznytsia signed an agreement with the Austrian company Voestalpine Rail Technology GmbH for the supply of 10 thousand tons of rails for major repairs of 80 km of track. This became possible due to competitive tenders that allowed to save significant funds.

“We must ensure the sustainability of our logistics despite daily shelling and attempts by russia to disrupt internal transport connections. Thanks to transparent competitive auctions and the support of international partners, we have additional supplies. This is an important signal for the enterprise workers and related industries - as it is about restoring production loads and stable jobs,”

emphasized Deputy Prime Minister Oleksii Kuleba.

The purchase of rails is financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) as part of the project “Emergency support for the Ukrainian railway.” The total volume of contracted supplies will amount to about 46 thousand tons, which will allow the construction and repair of 358 km of tracks. Deliveries will begin after the main supplies from May 2026.

The signing of the agreement took place with the participation of government representatives and company leadership. The additional rails will contribute to the completion of major repairs, increasing the speed of train movement and enhancing the capacity of the network, which is important for the stability of freight transportation and the development of infrastructure.

Ukrzaliznytsia has agreed to supply rails for the repairs of the track, which will improve transport infrastructure and ensure stability in transportation.
