Historic Steam Trains to Run for Constitution Day as Ukrzaliznytsia Launches Special Services
Celebrate Ukraine's Constitution Day at the National Museum of Folk Architecture and Life
According to Главком: This Sunday, June 28, the public is invited to mark Ukraine's Constitution Day at the National Museum of Folk Architecture and Life of Ukraine, located at 1 Akademika Tronka Street. The event lineup includes the grand opening of a revamped exhibit dedicated to the village administrative office, scheduled for 12:00 PM. This display will highlight how local governance and community life functioned in Ukrainian villages centuries ago, offering visitors a glimpse into the nation's grassroots democratic traditions.
Later in the day, at 3:00 PM, the museum's Singing Field will host a festive concert performed by the 27th Pechersk Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine. To reach the museum, take city bus No. 58 from the Vystavkovyi Tsentr metro station.
Additional Constitution Day Activities Organized by Ukrzaliznytsia
In honor of the holiday, Ukrzaliznytsia has announced several initiatives:
- Excursions aboard historic steam locomotives;
- Extra railcars added on routes to Haivoron;
- Charity fairs to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The railway operator has also revealed plans for the first Summer Steam Weekend of 2026, set to take place on June 27–28 along the Haivoron narrow-gauge railway.
“Constitution Day is a chance to reflect on the values of freedom, dignity, and democracy that form the bedrock of Ukrainian statehood. We invite everyone to spend this day at the National Museum of Folk Architecture and Life, discovering new chapters of history and soaking in the festive atmosphere,” said a museum representative.
Holding Constitution Day celebrations at the National Museum of Folk Architecture and Life represents a significant effort to promote Ukrainian history and culture. The opening of the village administrative office exhibit allows visitors to delve into the history of local self-government, a key element of Ukrainian identity.
