Suspicion of Yulia Tymoshenko in the case of bribery of deputies

According to ХВИЛЯ: Yulia Tymoshenko has been handed a suspicion in a case of bribing people's deputies. Searches in the office of the political party 'Batkivshchyna' lasted all night. Tymoshenko claims that nothing was found during the search, but her work phones, parliamentary documents, and personal savings were taken away.

On January 13, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP) reported the exposure of the leader of one of the deputy factions of the Verkhovna Rada for offering illegal benefits to people's deputies. The actions that are the subject of the investigation are classified under Part 4 of Article 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The head of the 'Batkivshchyna' faction has been named a person of interest in the case.

Tymoshenko's statements about the illegality of the search

Yulia Tymoshenko believes that the search of her office was illegal. She stated:

'More than thirty armed men without presenting any documents practically seized the building and took the staff hostage.' - Yulia Tymoshenko

In addition, the politician categorically rejects all accusations, stating:

'I categorically reject all absurd accusations. It seems the elections are much closer than it seemed. And someone has decided to start cleaning up competitors.' - Yulia Tymoshenko

This incident underscores the presence of serious political and legal challenges in Ukraine, especially in the context of upcoming elections when competition among political forces is intensifying. Tymoshenko's statements about political repression may indicate possible attempts to influence opposition parties and their leaders amid an unstable political situation.

Moreover, the investigation into bribery of deputies may have far-reaching consequences for Ukrainian politics, undermining trust in its institutions.
