Approval of the Long-Term Strategy

According to Мін. Економіки: The government of Ukraine has approved the updated Long-Term Strategy for Low-Carbon Development until 2050. The approval took place in 2023 under the leadership of Deputy Prime Minister Taras Kachka. This strategy defines the medium-term goals of the state climate policy and is an important step in fulfilling Ukraine's obligations under the Paris Agreement.

The strategy was developed by the Institute of Economics and Forecasting of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, with the support of UNDP Ukraine and UNDP in Ukraine. Over 20 national and international experts were involved in the strategy's development, demonstrating a comprehensive approach to policy formation in the field of low-carbon development. The main goal of this strategy is to achieve the defined objectives by 2050, emphasizing the importance of sustainable development and environmental responsibility in Ukraine.

Importance of the Strategy

The approval of this strategy is an important stage in Ukraine's efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve the ecological situation in the country. It also reflects Ukraine's commitments to the international community, particularly within the framework of climate agreements, and can stimulate investments in ecological technologies and innovations.

In the context of global climate change, the implementation of the stated goals will contribute not only to improving the ecological situation in Ukraine but also to enhancing the country's energy independence.
