Support for Elderly Pensioners Through Compensation Payments in Ukraine

According to Пенсії (RSS): The Ukrainian government has launched a monthly compensation scheme for pensioners aged 70 and above, with payment amounts increasing at 70, 75, and 80 years of age. These supplements are automatically granted if a pensioner's monthly pension is below 10,340.35 UAH before compensation. This framework was established under the Cabinet of Ministers' resolution dated February 24, 2023, No. 168.

Compensation Amounts Based on Age Brackets

The compensation varies according to the pensioner’s age group:

  • Pensioners aged 70 to 74 receive up to 300 UAH.
  • Those between 75 and 79 years old receive up to 456 UAH.
  • Pensioners over 80 years old are entitled to up to 570 UAH.

These payments are credited automatically from the moment the pensioner reaches the specified age, without requiring any application. They apply regardless of the pension type, legal basis, insurance record, or current employment status. However, the compensation is only activated if the pension amount is less than 10,340.35 UAH monthly.

As pensioners reach higher age thresholds, their compensation amounts increase accordingly-for instance, the payment rises from 456 UAH at age 75 to 570 UAH upon turning 80.

This initiative represents a significant step towards aiding Ukraine’s most vulnerable elderly population, especially amid rising living costs. Such financial support helps pensioners better meet their essential needs in challenging economic conditions.

The automatic nature of the compensation process streamlines access to this support, improving the overall welfare of seniors across the country.
