Russian Attack Halts All Thermal Power Plants of Centrenergo: Consequences for the Energy System
According to glavcom.ua: The Russian attack on Ukraine's energy sector led to the shutdown of all thermal power plants of JSC 'Centrenergo'. This occurred as a result of a massive attack with rockets and drones targeting the plants simultaneously. Civil Ukrainian citizens were affected due to the destruction of civilian facilities, which include thermal power plants.
«We stopped... Currently - zero generation. Zero! We lost what we had been restoring around the clock. Completely!», - reported the press service of 'Centrenergo'.
In particular, 'Centrenergo' includes Tripoli, Zmiev, and the temporarily occupied Vuhlehirska TPP. This has led to a significant deterioration in the energy situation in Ukraine, especially in Kyiv, where problems with electricity transport arose due to emergency power outages.
According to local authorities, power outages in the capital were implemented by the decision of the national operator NPC 'Ukrenergo' due to the losses caused by Russian aggression that led to a crisis situation in the country's energy system.
