Russia is driven only by the desire for dominance in the region and to bring the Ukrainian people to their knees.

In 2014, there was no talk of Ukraine's NATO membership; only some models of possible collective security agreements, in which our state could participate, were discussed. Therefore, this cannot be the reason for a full-scale war, said Mykhailo Podolyak, advisor to the head of the President's Office, during a telethon, as reported by Gazeta.ua.

'Russia is driven only by hatred, the desire for dominance in the region, and the desire to destroy and bring the Ukrainian people to their knees, who have always looked skeptically towards Russia,' Podolyak stated.

In the early 1990s, Ukrainian authorities were eagerly looking towards Moscow, thereby fostering hopes of being willing to kneel, he said.

He named Putin's godfather and pro-Russian politician Viktor Medvedchuk as an illustrative figure, creating the illusion of our country's cowardice.

Ukraine today is a completely different country. Russia now understands this perfectly, he informed.

'Against this background, any statements about reconciliation seem, at the very least, strange, and they no longer have any significance,' Podolyak emphasized.

He noted that Ukrainians must calmly reach the correct conclusion of the war, ensure the formation of a new security framework, particularly for Europe, and update the understanding of what modern NATO is.

Also, return Russia to where it should be as a maximally backward, impoverished, and technologically underdeveloped country.

The Russian Federation should not influence global politics, not be part of the G20, not be a permanent member of the UN Security Council, and not dominate in the IAEA and other international organizations, Podolyak believes.

The Russian dictator Vladimir Putin should return to reality instead of concocting new reasons for war.

Russia attacked Ukraine unilaterally and is killing civilians. There are no other 'countries, motives, geopolitics,' Podolyak wrote on Twitter.

He is confident that all war criminals will face a tribunal.
