This scarcity forces pilots to conserve their limited missile stock, often relying on onboard cannons during combat missions, which increases their personal risk. The commander of a Ukrainian F-16 squadron, known by the call sign Phantom, emphasized the urgent need for increased missile deliveries or authorization to manufacture them locally.

Using onboard cannons against slower, smaller aerial targets-especially at night-poses heightened risks to pilots. These challenges highlight the critical importance of supplying Ukrainian forces with sufficient and modern missile systems to secure their airspace.
