Total control over vehicle inspections introduced in Ukraine: what awaits drivers now
Starting from July 1, 2025, new vehicle inspection rules will be implemented in Ukraine. The key feature is that every stage of the inspection must be recorded using photo and video recording.
According to data from 'Economic Truth', the introduction of new rules implies that each point of technical control must be recorded by at least two cameras that capture all inspection processes. Additionally, the photo must occupy at least 70% of the area, where the time must be clearly indicated, coinciding with the inspection time, and the images must be bright and clear.
Pavel Soroka, a representative of the Main Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, explained that the main goal of the innovations is to improve control and avoid fictitious inspections. Ukraine has over 800 vehicle inspection points that are already equipped with the necessary equipment and cameras. The video recording of the inspection is sent to regional service centers after the inspection is completed. Moreover, information from the tachograph, if available in the vehicle, must now also be recorded. The new rules have also simplified the procedure for training vehicles and canceled the photo recording of brake test results, replacing it with video recording. Ukrainian drivers can now be confident that the technical inspection of their vehicles will be conducted even more qualitatively and objectively, thanks to the new requirements for photo and video documentation of the inspection process.
