New Technical Inspection Rules for Freight Cars Take Effect

According to Міністерство інфраструктури: Starting June 30, Ukraine has implemented updated regulations governing the technical inspection of freight cars. Under the new requirements, only certified railcar repair enterprises are authorized to perform maintenance work. Every technical decision related to car servicing must now be backed by a separate compliance certificate.

Currently, six companies meet the qualification standards and are already authorized to conduct technical inspections. However, the market remains open-any organization that successfully completes the required procedures can offer certification services in line with the technical regulations.

Oleksiy Balesta: 'We have finally moved away from outdated post-Soviet mechanisms and introduced our own national procedure, built on transparent rules and an unconditional priority on safety.'

The new rules promote clear and understandable operating guidelines, fair competition among enterprises, and the ability for customers to choose their service provider. This ensures guaranteed quality of work in compliance with state safety requirements. As a result, the changes in freight car technical inspections are expected to raise safety and quality standards across the industry.
