The Verkhovna Rada will not consider the draft law on dual citizenship

Ukrainian lawmakers at a meeting on May 19 removed the presidential draft law on dual citizenship from consideration.
According to Ukrainian lawmaker Iryna Herashchenko, this document violates the Constitution and legitimizes Russian passports. Additionally, she stated that the draft law on criminal liability for military leadership was also removed from consideration.

Let us recall that in the fall of 2019, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country to develop a mechanism for granting Ukrainian citizenship as a second citizenship to ethnic Ukrainians from 'friendly countries'.
