Sales of new cars in Ukraine fell by 15%: who leads the market in August

According to hvylya.net: In August, sales of new cars in the Ukrainian market decreased by 15% compared to the previous year but increased compared to July. According to the Institute of Market Research, during the month, Ukrainians and companies purchased 6,900 new passenger cars.

The most popular brands among Ukrainians remain Toyota, BYD, and Volkswagen. The leaders in the model ranking were Renault Duster, BYD Song Plus, and Toyota RAV4. Considering cars produced in Ukraine, Skoda Karoq was the most popular, with 83 cars sold.

The vast majority of cars, as before, were imported - 97.9% of all sales. Local production remains underdeveloped: only 149 cars of Ukrainian assembly were registered in August.

According to the research, individuals sold more than 72% of new cars, while companies purchased only 27%. Among types of engines, gasoline cars remain the most popular with a share of 31.7%, but electric vehicles are catching up with 28.1%. Hybrids take third place with 23.2%, while diesel cars are losing popularity, limited to 16.9% of the market.

In August, the Ukrainian market for new cars showed some relative improvement compared to July, although the overall sales dynamics remains lower compared to the same period last year. The most popular brands and models remain well-known brands, but cars of Ukrainian production have not yet had a significant impact on the market. The growing popularity of electric vehicles indicates a gradual transformation of the Ukrainian car market towards more environmentally friendly and innovative technologies.
