In Ukraine, power outages are expected to last up to 12 hours: what's happening
According to hvylya.net: Without electricity: destruction at thermal power plants
In Ukraine, the duration of power outages is expected to increase to 8-12 hours per day due to damage to the Trypillia and Zmiyiv thermal power plants during a missile-drone attack by the Russian Federation. This will lead to serious problems in power transmission from nuclear plants, as reported by energy experts.
As a result of the Russian military strike on critical infrastructure, the company 'Centrenergo' lost the Trypillia and Zmiyiv thermal power plants, which led to a decrease in electricity generation. The Vuhlegirska TPP, which has been under occupation since 2022, is also not operating.
The situation is assessed as critical but controllable. Although the nuclear power plants are functioning, the transmission networks are damaged. The time required to restore the damage at the thermal power plants may take weeks or even months, so complications with electricity supply for winter are anticipated.
