Military 55+: features of service and distribution in the Armed Forces of Ukraine
According to hvylya.net: The Ukrainian military command has continued mobilization due to ongoing hostilities until November 5. Men aged 25 to 59 are being called to serve in the Armed Forces.
The process of conscription and duties is the same for all categories of conscripts unless they have grounds for deferral. However, citizens over 50 have certain peculiarities.
After the age of 50, mobilization is usually not conducted due to the unsatisfactory health condition of the conscript, except on a voluntary basis
The main criterion for determining unfitness for those over 50 is their physical condition. Individuals with health problems, disabilities, as well as those who have many children to support or care for persons in need of care are exempted from service.
Specifics of service for individuals over 55
Special attention is paid to the appointment of service for those aged 55 and older regarding combat experience and military specialty. Usually, servicemen from this age group are assigned to rear support units.
If a citizen lacks a military specialty, they can undergo special training to acquire the necessary skills. Thus, the military command considers the age characteristics of conscripts, assigning them to positions that correspond to their experience and professional skills.
