The Notary Chamber demands to stop e-Notary: what is the reason for the scandal

The Notary Chamber of Ukraine has called for the testing of the e-Notary system to be halted due to the possibility of access to confidential information. Representatives of the chamber demand that testing be stopped in order to protect citizens' data.

The chamber appealed to the Ministry of Digital Transformation and the Ministry of Justice, pointing to gross violations of legislation and breaches of notary secrecy due to the possibility of accessing the registers of powers of attorney and wills.

The Notary Chamber called for the cessation of testing and the elimination of problems with access to citizens' confidential data. At the same time, they expressed readiness to cooperate to improve the e-Notary system and create a reliable service.

Concerns over confidentiality violations in electronic notary

Claims of leaks of personal data of citizens during the testing of the electronic notary system were refuted by the Ministry of Digital Transformation. They noted that notaries already have access to data on powers of attorney and inheritance cases within the framework of their professional activities, adhering to confidentiality requirements.

Thus, the department believes that the problem lies not in the system itself but in the control over access to information by notaries.
