More than 62 thousand shelters have been built in Ukraine: how many people can take refuge
According to glavcom.ua: Ukraine is strengthening its measures to ensure the safety of its citizens by constructing shelters. According to the data provided by Interior Minister Igor Klymenko, there are more than 62 thousand such structures in the country. From this number, half of the population can be saved.
The strategy includes the improvement and construction of new shelters until 2027. There are also plans to update laws that will require shelters to be included in new housing, social and infrastructure facilities. At the end of this process, the country aims to have protective structures for 91% of the population.
One example of the new approach to building shelters is the modular underground shelter in the village of Borodyanka in the Kyiv region, which was installed by the State Agency for Restoration and Development of Infrastructure of Ukraine.
Ukraine is actively developing a network of shelters to ensure the safety of its population. More than 62 thousand shelters have been built, which can accommodate half of the country's population. According to the strategy, by 2027, it is planned to improve all underground spaces for shelters and build another 2,300 new structures. Further plans include the construction of 11 thousand protective structures by 2034. One example of a modern approach to this process is the modular underground shelter in the village of Borodyanka.
