The court sentenced the Land Rover driver to 6 years for the death of pedestrians at Maidan

The court proceedings addressed the guilt of the driver who lost consciousness at the wheel and caused a fatal accident at Independence Square. With the support of public prosecution by prosecutors from the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office, the court sentenced the 71-year-old driver to 6 years in prison.

In October 2020, during the accident, the driver's car drove onto the sidewalk and hit two women pedestrians, resulting in their deaths. Three other people suffered minor injuries, and damage was also caused to vehicles on the road.

The man had medical contraindications to driving a vehicle but did not adhere to these requirements and caused the accident. For this, he was sentenced to imprisonment and deprived of the right to drive vehicles for 3 years. Thus, the court addressed the issue of the driver's responsibility for the tragedy.
