Total Enemy Combat Losses

According to Кабмін: The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has released updated estimates of total Russian combat losses from February 24, 2022, to March 9, 2026. These figures, which are often cited by Western analysts as a key indicator of the war's intensity, show that approximate personnel losses now stand at about 1,274,040, an increase of 750 since the last reporting period.

Key Equipment Losses

The primary equipment losses sustained by Russian forces include:

  • 11,745 tanks (+3)
  • 24,167 armored combat vehicles (+10)
  • 38,129 artillery systems (+70)
  • 1,675 multiple launch rocket systems (+2)
  • Air defense systems – 1,326 units (+4)
  • Aircraft – 435 units, helicopters – 349 units (no change)

Furthermore, losses of operational-tactical level unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are recorded at 166,640 units (+2,224), with 4,403 cruise missiles remaining unchanged. Naval losses include 31 ships and boats (+1) and 2 submarines. The Russian forces have also lost 82,289 vehicles and fuel tankers (+188) and 4,083 units of special equipment. This data is subject to ongoing verification.

The scale of these losses, as reported by Ukrainian military intelligence, underscores the protracted and costly nature of the conflict for Russia. The depletion of such a significant amount of personnel and materiel is likely to have a long-term impact on Russian military capabilities. These figures provide crucial context for assessing the strategic dynamics of the war and its broader regional implications.
