Revised Visa Pricing for Egypt

According to Главком: Beginning March 1, 2025, the price for a single-entry tourist visa to Egypt will rise from $25 to $30 USD. This change was prepared by Egypt's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and received parliamentary approval on November 2, 2025. The fee for a multiple-entry visa will remain unchanged at $60. This adjustment is part of a broader review of visa charges, which aims to manage tourist flows and align with current economic conditions. It's worth noting that Egypt is a major destination for travelers drawn to its ancient history and Red Sea resorts.

It is important to highlight that in December 2025, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi signed a decree setting a maximum visa fee cap of $20. The new $30 fee, therefore, operates under a specific legislative exception to this general rule.

Potential Impact on Tourism

Consequently, the increased visa cost could influence some tourists' decisions about visiting Egypt. According to data, Spain welcomed 97 million tourists in 2025, a 3.5% increase from the previous year, with tourism revenue rising nearly 7% to reach 135 billion euros. These figures indicate a growing global demand for travel, which intensifies competition among countries vying for visitors. The global tourism market is highly sensitive to changes in entry costs and perceived value.

The hike in Egypt's entry visa fee may signal policy shifts aimed at stabilizing the economy through tourism revenue. Faced with increasing competition in the travel sector, Egypt is likely attempting to optimize financial returns from tourists by adapting its visa policy to new economic realities. This could lead some travelers to consider alternative vacation destinations, which may, in turn, affect overall visitor numbers to Egypt.
