From January 1, 2026, child benefits will increase: new amounts of birth assistance
Changes in social payments for families with children in Ukraine
According to Міністерство соц. політики: From January 1, 2026, a law comes into effect in Ukraine that provides for an increase in payments for families with children, including a one-time allowance for the birth of a child and other social payments. This decision aims to support families during the period they are raising newborns.
According to the new regulations, the one-time payment at the birth of a child will be 50,000 hryvnias. Moreover, the childcare allowance up to 1 year will amount to 7,000 hryvnias per month. This significant increase in financial support is intended to alleviate the financial burden on young families.
Support programs for parents
A program called 'eYasla' is also being implemented, which provides 8,000 hryvnias per month for parents working full-time after the child reaches one year of age. In addition, the 'Baby Package' program allows parents to choose between a natural package or a cash payment, which provides additional flexibility in selecting necessary items for newborns.
This information about the changes was detailed by the First Deputy Minister of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine Lyudmyla Shemelinets during a national telethon 'Unified News'.
These changes in social security for families with children can significantly impact the demographic situation in Ukraine, as the increase in financial support may encourage young families to have children. It is also important that the proposed programs take into account the needs of working parents, which can positively affect their work-life balance.
Overall, such initiatives indicate the growing attention of the state to social issues and support for young families.
