Ukrainians to Receive Updated Gas Bills Starting in October

According to Radiotrek — Світ: Starting October 1, 2026, Ukraine will introduce a new format for gas distribution invoices. The National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission (NEURC) has approved these changes under Resolution No. 541. The updated bills will align with European Union standards, as part of implementing EU Directive 2024/1788. A single template will be adopted for all gas distribution network operators, ensuring consistent conditions across all suppliers.

The key innovation is the option to receive a single bill instead of multiple ones. Charges for gas distribution and supply may now be combined on one document. Consumers can choose whether to receive the document in paper or electronic form. The stated goal of these changes is to make it clear for individuals exactly what they are paying for. Gas distribution companies must fully comply with the new requirements by October 1, 2026.

What Consumers Should Know

  • Meter readings must be submitted by the fifth day of each month.
  • Payment for the bill is due no later than the 25th.
  • Annual gas tariffs for households remain unchanged, ranging from 7.96 to 9.99 UAH per cubic meter.
  • The lowest fixed price is offered by Naftogaz at 7.96 UAH per cubic meter.
  • Monthly offers can reach up to 27.99 UAH per cubic meter.

Ukrainians will not need to take any special action to switch to the new bill format, as the changes will be implemented automatically. This update aims to simplify the process of receiving and paying bills, enhancing convenience for consumers. Additionally, the new bills will help reduce the likelihood of calculation errors and make it easier to track gas expenses.

This reform of gas bills represents a significant step toward integrating Ukraine into European energy standards and increasing transparency in service payments. With the new bill format, consumers will be able to better manage their spending, which could positively impact their financial literacy. These changes are expected to boost trust in gas suppliers and contribute to improved customer service.
