Epidemiological Situation in Ukraine

According to Міністерство Здоров'я: Between April 27 and May 3, 2026, a total of 117,429 people in Ukraine contracted influenza, COVID-19, or acute respiratory viral infections (ARVIs). Among them, 44,929 were adults and 72,500 were children. There were 85 confirmed cases of COVID-19, and 2,425 patients required hospitalization, including 1,440 children. Across all regions of Ukraine, illness rates remain at baseline intensity levels.

The current epidemic season began on September 29, 2025. Since then, 4,029,799 people have fallen ill with ARVIs. Compared to the same period last year, there has been a 7.8% decrease in ARVI cases. Throughout this season, a total of 22,019 COVID-19 cases have been recorded. COVID-19 vaccinations are free of charge and available in every region of the country.

Expert Recommendations

To reduce the risk of illness, experts advise following a few simple precautions:

  • Avoid close contact with individuals showing cold symptoms.
  • If you become sick, stay home to avoid exposing others.
  • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing.
  • Wash your hands frequently or use hand sanitizer.
  • Refrain from touching your face, as this lowers the chance of infection.

The current data on influenza, COVID-19, and ARVIs indicate a stable epidemiological situation in Ukraine. Despite the high number of cases, hospitalization rates remain under control. It is recommended to continue following preventive measures to curb further spread of viral infections, especially among vulnerable groups such as children. It is also important for the public to stay informed about the availability of COVID-19 vaccinations, which remain accessible in all regions.
