SBU detains RF spy for HIMARS: how he was preparing terrorist acts
Charges against a resident of Crimea for planning terrorist acts
According to Прокуратура Київ: The investigators of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office have reported that a 55-year-old resident of the annexed Crimea has been charged with planning terrorist acts and attempting to acquire technical documentation on the HIMARS system. The man traveled to Kyiv with the aim of recruiting people for Russian special services.
The detained individual was looking for contacts in the capital to find Ukrainian military personnel willing to sell technical documentation and components of HIMARS. The Russian special services promised a substantial reward for this; however, the organizer of the terrorist preparations fell into the trap of Ukrainian special services, receiving fake documentation.
He was also searching for people to commit terrorist acts to intimidate the citizens of Ukraine. For this purpose, he tried to identify journalists and bloggers, the murder of whom was intended to provoke panic in Ukrainian society.
The client of the crime promised a reward of 20 thousand US dollars and provided instructions on where to obtain a Makarov pistol, which was to be the weapon of the crime.
It was planned to attack two individuals - a journalist from Kherson and an officer of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. One of them was to be attacked with a pistol, and the other with a knife. However, the Ukrainian special services were already informed about these assassination attempts and were monitoring the situation.
This case information has been released by the press service of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office.
The charges against a resident of Crimea for planning terrorist acts and attempts to intimidate the citizens of Ukraine are serious accusations that indicate an attempt to carry out terrorist actions in peacetime and a threat to national security. Ukrainian law enforcement agencies detected the crime in time and eliminated the danger to citizens.
