Artem Dovbik earns over 3 million euros per season at Roma. The financial conditions of the Ukrainian striker may prevent his transfer to Genoa, which is looking for attacking reinforcements before the new season. This is reported by Sport.ua citing La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Dovbik's salary at Roma became an obstacle for the transfer

According to Italian media, Genoa has identified the Ukrainian forward as one of its main targets for the summer transfer window. The Genoa club plans to update its attacking line; however, it has not yet been able to agree on the financial model of a potential deal.

The main problem is said to be Dovbik’s salary, which exceeds 3 million euros per season. For Genoa, such an amount is a serious strain on the budget, so the transfer may depend on the player's agreement to lower his payments or Roma’s involvement in covering part of the costs.

Why Genoa became interested in Artem Dovbik

In Genoa, they hope that good relations with head coach Daniele De Rossi will help reach an agreement. He previously managed Roma and is familiar with the capabilities of the Ukrainian striker.

Italian journalists also report on Dovbik’s willingness to consider changing teams. A transfer could give him more playing time, but no specific offers or agreed terms have been announced by either party yet.

Dovbik's statistics in the 2025/26 season

In the 2025/26 season, the striker played 18 matches for the Roman club in all tournaments. He scored three goals and provided one assist.

Such figures have intensified discussions about a possible transfer. For the player, regular practice is important, but Roma is not obliged to rush with a decision: the Ukrainian's contract is valid until the summer of 2029.

This lengthy contract gives the Romans a strong position in negotiations. The club can agree to a sale or loan only under acceptable financial conditions, while the high salary narrows the circle of potential candidates.

It should be noted that the Spanish club Betis offered Roma a loan for Ukrainian striker Artem Dovbik. Previously, Betis attempted to sign the player, offering 15-16 million euros for him, but Roma rejected that proposal due to the low amount.
