In Lviv, an evening of remembrance was held on the occasion of the 19th anniversary of the death of the famous linguist Iryna Farion. The event was organized by the staff of the Department of Ukrainian Language of the National University 'Lviv Polytechnic'. Iryna Farion's daughter Sofia Osoba also shared her memories of her mother.
“I will talk about her as her sunshine, as her bird, and as her daughter. Mom was and remains persistent, noble, kind, sincere, open to us... tomorrow never came,” recalled Farion's daughter.
Sofia Osoba shares that she misses her mother's voice, laughter, warmth, calls, and messages very much. However, she finds comfort in photographs. She urges everyone to keep photos as a memory of life.
“I have an incredibly large number of photos. Mom always praised me: 'You are so good at taking photos.' When you have photos on your phones, print them out, because this is the memory of your life,” said Iryna Farion's daughter. Iryna Farion was known not only as a university teacher but also as an active cultural figure. She carried out several projects, such as 'The Greatness of Personality' and 'The Genes of Ukrainians'. She was also the author of two YouTube channels where she hosted interesting programs about the culture of the Ukrainian language. Since 2006, Iryna Farion was a deputy of the Lviv Regional Council and periodically ran for the Verkhovna Rada. In 2012, she was elected to parliament from the 'Svoboda' party and served as a member of the Verkhovna Rada.
