Jamaica Shatters World Record at World Athletics Relays

According to Главком: Jamaica’s national team set a new world record in the mixed 4x100-meter relay at the World Athletics Relays Championships held in Gaborone, Botswana. The Jamaican squad clocked in at 39.99 seconds. The team consisted of:

  • Ackeem Blake
  • Tina Clayton
  • Kadrian Goldson
  • Tia Clayton

Notably, the previous world record was held by Canada, which posted a time of 40.07 seconds just minutes before Jamaica’s race.

Other Teams and Results

The competition in Gaborone also saw Jamaica, Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, Nigeria, the United States, Spain, and Great Britain secure direct spots for the 2027 World Championships in Beijing. Additionally, the top six teams will earn the chance to compete at the Absolute World Championships in Budapest.

Ukraine also took part in the event. The Ukrainian team featured:

  • Illia Popov
  • Diana Honcharenko
  • Oleksandr Sokolov
  • Danyila Khavan

Ukraine finished with a time of 41.84 seconds, setting a new national record. The previous national record had been established at a tournament in Poland. Despite this achievement, Ukraine placed last in its heat and 18th overall. The event followed a male-female-male-female order.
