Agreement Reached on Diesel Supplies for Ukraine

According to Главком: During a visit to the Middle East, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy secured a deal to supply Ukraine with diesel fuel for at least one year. This move is critical given Ukraine's depleted fuel reserves, a situation caused by Russian Federation strikes since the war's outset and the long-term contracts of Ukrainian companies. This agreement helps address a strategic vulnerability for a nation heavily reliant on fuel for both its military and civilian infrastructure.

Zelenskyy visited Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar for key negotiations. In Saudi Arabia, he met with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud. These talks resulted in a defense cooperation agreement that includes technological collaboration and investments between the two nations.

The State of Ukraine's Fuel Reserves

President Zelenskyy also stated that Ukraine's defense forces are currently 100% supplied with fuel. He emphasized that the total monthly supply of diesel and gasoline for the entire country is about 700,000 tons. Ukraine's annual fuel consumption is approximately 7.2 to 7.4 million tons.

"Our priority is the army; we clearly understand the volume of our supplies," Zelenskyy said.

He further commented on the reserve situation:

"I needed to secure an agreement; the rest is a matter for Naftogaz, to ensure how to supply the country with diesel, for instance, in case of a global shortage or a major crisis. Yesterday, I secured diesel for at least a year."

The President noted that "when there are challenges, a shortage, supplies can work, or they can slow down. Therefore, long-term agreements with energy-producing countries are necessary."

Additionally, Zelenskyy reported that several countries, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, and the United States, have approached Ukraine regarding its experience with air defense systems. These international inquiries could help bolster Ukraine's security as the conflict continues.

The fuel supply agreements are critically important for maintaining Ukraine's defense capabilities amid ongoing threats from Russia. Cooperation with Middle Eastern nations will not only help secure vital resources but may also strengthen strategic alliances in the region. The involvement of these states in security matters underscores the broad international support for Ukraine and its efforts to preserve its territorial integrity.

In addition to securing vital fuel supplies, President Zelenskyy is actively pursuing military collaborations to enhance Ukraine's defense capabilities. Notably, during his meetings in Saudi Arabia, discussions revolved around strengthening air defense systems and counter-drone strategies.
