Zelenskyy Seeks Dialogue with Netanyahu, Offering Ukraine's Expertise on Countering Iranian Drones
Ukraine-Israel Talks Proposed
According to Главком: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has expressed his readiness to engage in talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine is already actively sharing its hard-won expertise on countering Iranian drones with Middle Eastern nations, having dispatched three teams of specialists to provide expert assistance on air defense matters. He further accused Iran of supplying Russia with 'Shahed' drones and of lying about the scale of these deliveries.
The President revealed that Iran initially claimed to have sold only 1,200 or 1,300 drones to Russia, information which has proven false.
'Well... we are not allies here. We sold the Russians some 'Shaheds,' and there will be 1,200 or 1,300, and that's it. But that was untrue. Of course, they lied,' Zelenskyy noted.
He emphasized that Russia has now established its own production line for these unmanned aerial vehicles, creating cheaper analogues. This development underscores the global proliferation of advanced drone technology, a key feature of modern warfare.
Expert Assistance and System Assessments
Zelenskyy confirmed that three groups of Ukrainian experts have already been sent to the Middle East.
'Three groups are already there now. It is now up to the countries to decide how to use our experience,' he said.
According to him, these specialists were deployed to assess air defense systems, as the countries requested expert help 'on air defense issues. Air defense, not attack.'
Assessing the broader security landscape, Zelenskyy expressed regret that he sees no force in the world capable of truly stopping Russian President Vladimir Putin. 'It's a pity. We do not see a force in the world that can really stop Putin,' he stated. Concurrently, the Ukrainian President noted that he possesses something Netanyahu needs, and the Israeli Prime Minister has something Ukraine requires. 'He has what I need, and I have what he needs. Therefore, I am ready for this dialogue,' Zelenskyy stressed. This potential exchange highlights the strategic value of battlefield-tested knowledge in contemporary conflicts.
This statement from Ukraine's leader underscores the critical importance of international cooperation in countering threats linked to drone technology and military aggression. Ukraine's extensive experience in combating drones could prove invaluable for Middle Eastern nations, particularly amid growing dangers from Iran and its support for Russia. Dialogue between Ukraine and Israel could open new avenues for military and technical collaboration, representing a significant step toward enhancing the security of both states.
In light of Zelenskyy's proactive stance on sharing Ukraine's expertise with Middle Eastern nations, it is noteworthy that Netanyahu has also expressed interest in discussing strategies for countering Iranian drones. This dialogue indicates a growing collaboration between Ukraine and Israel in addressing regional security challenges, particularly concerning drone technology's implications in modern warfare.
