According to МЗС: To mark the 35th anniversary of Ukraine's restored independence, President Volodymyr Zelensky has posthumously awarded Hennadii Udovenko the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise, Second Class. Udovenko, who served as Ukraine's foreign minister between 1994 and 1998, was instrumental in shaping the country's international standing. His career included representing Ukraine at UN offices in Geneva and New York, as well as serving as ambassador to Poland.

In 1985, Udovenko took on the role of Ukraine's permanent representative to the UN, and in 1997 he was voted president of the 52nd session of the General Assembly. He was known for his "three Ps" approach - professionalism, patriotism, and integrity - which came to symbolize his professional ethos. The Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs now bears his name, a mark of his impact on the nation's diplomacy.
