Zelensky appointed a new commander of the Air Force

According to glavcom.ua: The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, appointed Lieutenant General Anatoliy Kryvonozhko as the commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This was reported by 'Glavkom' referring to the head of state.

In his statement, the president emphasized that it is important for the Ukrainian combat aviation and air defense forces to develop comprehensively and interact effectively with other military structures. Zelensky also noted that aviation must implement a development strategy for the next 20 years.

«Today, there were reports on the steps that need to be taken. This year, 'Mirages' have already entered Ukraine and are being used. Priorities in the integration of foreign equipment into the Defense Forces of Ukraine have been determined. The main goal of the transformation of Ukrainian aviation is to ensure a strong and modern aviation component for our state’s defense forces,» explained Zelensky.

In August 2024, Lieutenant General Anatoliy Kryvonozhko temporarily served as the acting commander of the Air Force, after which he was permanently appointed to this position. His predecessor was dismissed after the crash of an F-16 aircraft and the death of the pilot while repelling a missile strike from Russia.
