Zelensky Leads Strategic Meeting on Lyman Front Addressing Soldier Pay and Artillery Needs

Strategic Coordination Meeting Led by Volodymyr Zelensky

According to ХВИЛЯ: President Volodymyr Zelensky held a crucial coordination meeting focused on the Lyman front, engaging directly with military leaders to tackle key issues such as frontline soldier compensation, the demand for long-range artillery, the reintegration of troops returning from temporarily occupied territories, and the involvement of foreign volunteers. Present at the meeting were commanders from army corps, brigades, and battalions who raised several pressing topics, including:

• Procurement of pickup vehicles
• Strengthening drone and UAV capabilities
• Increasing funding for unmanned aerial systems
• Streamlining military procurement processes
• Expanding personnel numbers
• Enhancing training for service members

Zelensky also visited the command post of the Third Army Corps, which is leading the ongoing 'Vivaldi' operation in Donetsk region. Over the course of three operational seasons, Russian forces have suffered over 5,000 casualties, including killed and wounded. During 'Vivaldi,' Ukraine captured 250 Russian soldiers and regained control of 176 square kilometers of territory. The president outlined plans for a fourth phase of intensified action, emphasizing the critical need for coordinated efforts with the military command.

“There is a clear requirement for long-range artillery. We have aligned with the military on this priority. Additionally, commanders will prepare proposals regarding the pay structure for soldiers on the frontlines,” Zelensky stated.

He stressed that all issues raised by military leadership must be thoroughly reviewed and addressed at the highest level of command. “Our focus is to enhance the resources available to our troops to better defend our positions,” the president added.

The discussion also covered innovative warfare tactics, including deploying ground-based robotic systems and drones to undertake hazardous tasks, thereby reducing risks to soldiers. “Replacing troops with robotic systems where feasible is a highly promising direction. During the 'Vivaldi' operation, this approach enabled significant achievements. We plan to expand this strategy so that drones handle the most dangerous frontline missions whenever possible,” Zelensky explained.

Additionally, Zelensky visited the command center of the 66th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Prince Mstyslav the Brave, which successfully reclaimed over 125 square kilometers of territory. He awarded state honors to the soldiers, praising their dedication and service. Topics discussed included frontline conditions in the east and south, drone and anti-drone technologies, logistics, and the process of returning troops from temporarily occupied areas.
