Ukrainian President Holds Meeting on Energy Infrastructure

According to ХВИЛЯ: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy convened a meeting with First Deputy Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko and the head of Naftogaz, Serhiy Koretskyi, to address the restoration of the country's gas infrastructure following Russian attacks. A key outcome was the signing of a €50 million agreement with the European Investment Bank (EIB), which is intended to support the sector's recovery. This funding is part of broader international efforts to help Ukraine rebuild critical infrastructure damaged during the ongoing war.

Zelenskyy noted that despite the immense challenges facing the nation, gas supplies to the population remain stable. He emphasized that Ukraine continues to import necessary fuel volumes and diversify its supply channels to ensure the reliability of its energy system. The primary support for restoring the gas infrastructure is being provided by:

  • The European Investment Bank
  • The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development

Furthermore, Naftogaz is importing electricity to cover more than 50% of its own consumption needs, a measure that also contributes to supporting the stable operation of the national energy grid. President Zelenskyy stressed the importance of these steps for ensuring reliable gas supplies for Ukrainian citizens.

'This meeting and the agreement with the European Investment Bank demonstrate Ukraine's active efforts to restore energy infrastructure, which has sustained significant damage during the conflict.' - Volodymyr Zelenskyy

The mobilization of international financial resources is critically important for stabilizing the energy sector, which in turn will help ensure an uninterrupted supply of energy for both the population and industry.
