According to Главком: Volodymyr Zelensky has arrived in Sweden for an official working visit, where Kyiv and Stockholm are preparing a major new defense aid package and working toward a separate agreement on Gripen fighter jets. The Ukrainian leader is scheduled to hold talks with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson and participate in delegation-level meetings involving representatives from Sweden’s defense industry.
Zelensky stated: 'Today I am in Sweden on a working visit. We are preparing a large defense package for Ukraine and a strong step regarding Gripen fighters that will definitely make our combat aviation more effective.'
Ukraine and Sweden could finalize a deal to purchase Saab’s JAS 39 Gripen E jets as early as this year. Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov is also taking part in the negotiations.
Zelensky expressed gratitude to the Swedish prime minister, saying: 'Thank you, Ulf, that our relations-between Ukraine and Sweden-are always meaningful, and our cooperation is strong.' Talks between the sides are ongoing, and the financing of the prospective agreement is under discussion.
