Ukrainian President Holds Command Meeting on War Strategy

According to Главком: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy convened a meeting with military commanders on April 6. The session included Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi and Chief of the General Staff Andrii Hnatov. Discussions focused on the frontline situation and Ukraine's long-range strike capabilities, with the President approving the next steps for these operations.

Targets and Economic Impact of Recent Strikes

The meeting highlighted key operational areas, including the Olexandriiskyi and Pokrovskyi sectors. It was noted that a series of strikes on Russian ports occurred from March 23 to 29, successfully hitting the ports of Primorsk and Ust-Luga. Preliminary estimates indicate these attacks have cost Russian oil exporters approximately $970 million. These two ports alone handle over 40% of Russia's seaborne crude oil exports, making them critical economic targets. These strikes are part of a broader Ukrainian strategy to degrade Russia's ability to finance its war.

President Zelenskyy emphasized the significance of Ukraine's military actions:

"That is where the Russian army is currently concentrating its greatest efforts, and accordingly, our counteraction. I am grateful to all our units for the tangible results in hitting the occupiers" – Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The President also stressed the importance of Ukraine's long-range capabilities, which he stated are effectively reducing Russian revenues, particularly from oil. "This is felt both in the northeastern and southeastern sectors of active long-range operations," he noted.

Zelenskyy added that it is crucial for "strong Ukrainian positions on the front and in long-range strikes to also work to strengthen our positions in diplomacy and in multifaceted relations with partners."

"This is exactly what is happening. Ukraine is defending itself and demonstrating the ability to enhance the security of others. Glory to Ukraine!" the President concluded.

This high-level meeting underscores the strategic importance Ukraine places on military actions that directly impact Russia's war economy. By successfully targeting critical infrastructure like export terminals, Ukraine aims not only to weaken the enemy's military potential but also to inflict substantial financial damage. This approach is seen as vital for sustaining international support in Ukraine's fight for security and territorial integrity.

As Ukraine enhances its long-range strike capabilities, the ongoing conflict has seen a dramatic increase in aerial assaults on its territory. Recently, over 700 drones were launched in a single day, marking a significant escalation in hostilities.
