Winter has officially started: forecasters warn of rain and fog

Winter in Ukraine officially began on December 2. Forecaster Natalia Didenko warned Ukrainians that the first day of the winter season will be characterized by gloomy, wet weather. The air temperature in Ukraine will range from +3 to +7 degrees. In the south of the country, the temperature will rise to +7-12 degrees, while in Kyiv it is expected to be around +6 degrees.

According to Didenko, on December 2, it will be cloudy and damp in Ukraine, with small rains or fog possible in some areas.

“On December 2 in Ukraine, it will be cloudy, damp, with occasional small rains, or fog, or heavy fog with droplets” – Natalia Didenko.

Forecasters also predict that by the end of the week, temperatures will drop by 2-4 degrees.

Weather conditions and their impact on Ukrainians

Currently, the weather in Ukraine is characterized as late autumn. Forecasters use terms to describe the weather, such as:

  • kakabeka – wet snow, wet snow with rain, sticky wet snow, icy slush underfoot;
  • mamadaragaya – heavy rain, stormy wind, or a powerful snowstorm with blizzards;
  • rahat-lukum – anticyclonic nature of the weather, when it’s calm, warm, and sunny.

Thus, Ukrainians can expect changes in weather conditions and be prepared for rain and fog in the first days of winter.

With the onset of winter, Ukrainians face seasonal weather conditions that can impact daily life, particularly in transportation and health. Monitoring changes in the weather in Ukraine is important, as it allows for better preparation for winter conditions, which may include not only rain and fog but also a drop in temperature that could lead to road and sidewalk icing.
