Girona Adds Fourth Ukrainian Player, Securing Striker Oleksandr Pishchur
Oleksandr Pishchur's Move to Girona
According to Главком: Spanish club Girona is set to acquire central striker Oleksandr Pishchur, making him the fourth Ukrainian player on their roster. The 20-year-old, currently with Hungarian side Gyor, has signed a contract with Girona for a transfer fee of approximately €1 million. This move highlights Girona's ongoing strategy of scouting young talent from Eastern Europe.
Pishchur joined Gyor in July 2025 and has featured in 20 matches this season, scoring 4 goals and providing 1 assist. He also represented the Ukraine U-20 national team at the 2025 FIFA World Cup in Chile, playing in 4 matches and scoring 1 goal. His international experience continued with a debut for the Ukraine U-21 side in November 2025, where he played 2 matches.
Ukrainians Already at Girona
Pishchur will join a growing Ukrainian contingent at the club, which currently includes:
- Vladyslav Kravtsov
- Viktor Tsyhankov
- Vladyslav Vanat
This established group is expected to help the newcomer settle in more quickly.
The signing underscores the increasing presence of Ukrainian players at major European clubs, a trend that benefits the development of football in Ukraine. Having multiple compatriots at Girona should aid Pishchur's adaptation and foster better team cohesion. It also signals the club's confidence in young Ukrainian talent, potentially paving the way for more players from the region to make similar moves in the future.
