Electricity Supply Situation in the Kyiv Region

According to Главком: As of the morning of April 27, 20,000 families in the Kyiv region are still without power. Restoration efforts are ongoing, with 60 DTEK teams working to fix the damage caused by severe weather. It is worth noting that over 180,000 households in the region have already had their electricity restored. The outages were triggered by downed power lines after trees and branches fell during strong winds.

Severe Weather Across Ukraine

The storm has not only affected the Kyiv region but also other parts of Ukraine. The hardest-hit areas include:

  • Dnipropetrovsk region
  • Khmelnytskyi region
  • Kyiv region

Across 19 regions of the country, more than 700 settlements have been left without electricity. Tragically, three people have died as a result of the natural disaster: one in Zaporizhzhia, one in Zakarpattia, and one in Cherkasy region.

In Kyiv on April 27, wind gusts of 15–20 m/s are expected, which could complicate driving, especially on open road sections and bridges. Such weather conditions may cause vehicles to drift sideways, lift dust and debris, and reduce visibility. On the nights of April 27 and 28, ground frost of 0–2°C is forecast, which could also create hazardous road conditions.

In response to these weather conditions, a yellow danger level has been declared. Drivers are advised to:

  • Reduce speed and maintain steady movement without sudden maneuvers
  • Increase the distance to other vehicles
  • Turn on low-beam headlights for better visibility
  • Avoid risky overtaking
  • Be especially careful when exiting forest strips or courtyards onto open areas where the wind is noticeably stronger
