Ukrainian Armed Forces seized the initiative at the hottest front line, - ISW

According to hvylya.net: The Ukrainian forces have achieved certain tactical success in the Pokrovsk direction. This is evidenced by geolocation videos published on July 18, which recorded the advancement of Ukrainian Armed Forces units in the northern part of the village of Mykolaivka, located to the northeast of Pokrovsk. The information was released by the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

At the same time, ISW reports that Russian troops have likely managed to advance west of Novoeconomicheskoye, however, this information does not yet have visual confirmation.

Intensive hostilities in the Pokrovsk direction

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported in its evening summary about extremely active military actions in the Pokrovsk direction: just in one night, the enemy carried out 36 attacks in the areas of more than a dozen populated localities, including Popov Yar, Myrolyubivka, Udachne, Horikhove, and Myrnohrad. Russian aviation struck populated areas of Shakhove, Rodynske, Belitske, and again Myrnohrad, which is under significant pressure.

In this context, the General Staff emphasizes that information about supposedly active assaults on Pokrovsk, spread by Russian sources, does not correspond to reality and is part of an information-psychological operation.

Situation in the Pokrovsk direction

The situation in the region remains extremely tense. Russian troops are concentrating their efforts on breaking through the defense of Ukrainian forces in the Pokrovsk-Myrnohrad agglomeration, trying to avoid losses similar to those they suffered during the battles in Bakhmut and Avdiivka.

Let us also remind you that the Russians are suffering huge losses in mechanized assaults on Chasiv Yar.

Since the beginning of hostilities in the Pokrovsk direction, Ukrainian troops have managed to achieve certain successes, advancing north in the area of the village of Mykolaivka. However, Russian forces are also actively operating in this region, trying to break through the defense and occupy strategically important positions.
