110,000 hryvnias: the calculated amount for a comfortable life of a family with a child

Comfortable living in Ukraine in 2025 for two adults requires an income of 70–80 thousand UAH per month, and with a child – 90–110 thousand UAH. These figures are provided for large cities such as Kyiv or Lviv. This was reported by the site Novyny.LIVE, citing financial consultant Ivan Osipenko. 

What the family budget expenses consist of in Ukraine

Financial consultant Ivan Osipenko notes that the main expenses of the family budget include:

• Housing and utilities – a key expense item that depends on the region.

• Food – quality products for a balanced diet.

• Transport – getting around the city or between cities.

• Medicine – regular examinations and unforeseen expenses.

• Education and leisure – courses, hobbies, recreation.

• Household needs – clothing, hygiene products, small purchases.

A joint budget for couples helps optimize expenses, as most payments, such as rent or utilities, are split in half. 

"The comfortable income level for a couple is 70–80 thousand UAH per month. This is enough for balanced expenses, savings for large purchases like repairs or appliances, and a financial cushion," explains Osipenko. 

According to him, in large cities such as Kyiv or Lviv, expenses increase due to higher costs of rent, transport, and services.

Previously, financiers named the minimum for survival in Ukraine.

What additional expenses do families have for a child

The arrival of a child significantly changes the financial landscape of a family. Additional expenses include:

• Baby food and clothing – regular expenses that increase with age.

• Education – kindergartens, schools, clubs, or tutors.

• Medicine and development – vaccinations, development activities, entertainment.

• Travel and recreation – family trips for quality leisure.

For a family with a child, a comfortable income is 90–110 thousand UAH per month. In small cities, these figures may be lower, but savings are often offset by limited access to quality services. For comparison, one person in Ukraine needs 15–20 thousand UAH per month to cover basic needs without debts, but without the ability to save or spend on leisure.
