209 Freshmen of the Lviv Heroes of Kruty Lyceum Take the Cadet Oath in the Presence of Lithuanian and Latvian Delegates

According to Рубрика — Суспільство: On October 1st, 209 first-year students at the Lviv Heroes of Kruty Lyceum officially took their Cadet Oath. The event was held in a solemn setting and attended by city and regional officials, members of parliament, lyceum alumni, military personnel, clergy, and the cadets' families. Notably, representatives from Lithuania and Latvia, who came from military-patriotic institutions in their countries, were present, highlighting the ceremony’s international significance.
The ceremony began with a moment of silence to honor the fallen graduates of the lyceum and defenders of Ukraine. This was followed by the Ukrainian National Anthem, symbolizing the new cadets’ commitment to their homeland. The students received their official ID cards from veteran lyceum graduates and cadets from higher military education institutions in Lviv, Kharkiv, and Odesa, emphasizing the strong connection across generations.
The event concluded with a formal march by the units, showcasing the discipline and spirit of the lyceum. A blessing for the cadets’ future endeavors was given by Father Taras Mykhailchuk, the head of the Military Chaplaincy Center of the Lviv Archdiocese of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church and pastor of the Garrison Church of Saints Peter and Paul. Father Taras also began his chaplaincy service at the Heroes of Kruty Lyceum, underscoring the vital role of spiritual guidance in nurturing young patriots.
The Lyceum’s Distinctive Role
The Lviv Heroes of Kruty Lyceum is a unique secondary educational institution with a military focus, accepting students from the age of 13. It serves as the foundational step in Ukraine’s military education system and has graduated nearly 600 cadets since its inception. Among its alumni are:
- 9 Heroes of Ukraine
- 6 full recipients of the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky
- Over 300 graduates awarded high state honors
- More than 100 alumni who sacrificed their lives defending Ukraine's independence and territorial integrity
The lyceum continues to play a crucial role in shaping new generations of devoted patriots.
Taking the Cadet Oath marks a pivotal moment for these young individuals who have chosen the path of service to their country. The Lviv Heroes of Kruty Lyceum maintains a proud tradition of fostering patriotism, which is essential for strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities.
