100 years of Yuriy Bedzyk: life and books of the Ukrainian writer

Today marks 100 years since the birth of the outstanding Ukrainian writer and translator Yuriy Dmytrovych Bedzyk. He was born in Kharkiv on November 25, 1925, and passed away on August 17, 2008, in Kyiv. Bedzyk became a honored worker of culture of Ukraine since 2001 and became famous for his literary legacy in the Ukrainian language.

Starting his literary career as a poet, Bedzyk published his poems in an army newspaper, and from 1954 he began to work actively as a prose writer. He wrote more than 40 books in various genres and also created scripts and plays for theaters. His literary debut took place in 1956 with the publication of the collection of short stories 'Next to You'.

Ukrainian literature has lost one of its key representatives, but the work of Yuriy Dmytrovych Bedzyk remains a reliable source of feelings, ideas, and deep soulful confessions for generations.
