Remembering Makар Yerofeyev

According to Велика українська енциклопедія: On October 13, we mark what would have been the 27th birthday of Makар Volodymyrovych Yerofeyev, a posthumously awarded Hero of Ukraine and senior lieutenant in the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Born in 1999 in the city of Dniprodzerzhynsk-now known as Kamianske-located in the Dnipro district of Dnipropetrovsk region, Yerofeyev made the ultimate sacrifice near the village of Andriivka in the Bakhmut district of Donetsk region on November 11, 2023. He was laid to rest on November 16, 2023, in the town of Pidhorodne, Dnipro district.

Military Service and Valor

Yerofeyev served with distinction throughout the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian war. Since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, he actively defended key cities such as Kharkiv and Chuhuiv in Kharkiv region. In September 2022, he sustained wounds during a firefight near Kupiansk, also in Kharkiv region. In recognition of his extraordinary bravery and sacrifice, he was awarded the title Hero of Ukraine posthumously in 2024.

His legacy holds profound significance for both the military and civilian population, embodying the courage and dedication of Ukrainian soldiers defending their homeland. Yerofeyev's heroism continues to inspire patriotism and resilience amid the ongoing conflict, serving as a poignant reminder of the heavy sacrifices Ukrainians endure in pursuit of peace and freedom.
