At Interior Ministry Lyceums, 475 Children from Defender Families Begin Their Studies

New Academic Year Opens at Ukraine’s Interior Ministry Lyceums

According to МВС: Five lyceums run by Ukraine’s Interior Ministry and dedicated to security-sector and patriotic education have opened a new academic year. These institutions provide a specialized educational track for young people considering careers in state service and law enforcement. During a visit to the Kyiv Interior Ministry Lyceum, Interior Minister Ivan Vyhivskyi met with students and thanked their families for trusting the school with their children.

“Thank you to the families of the lyceum students for trusting us with the most precious thing in your lives - your children. I am also grateful to the teachers and educators for their round-the-clock care and for the students’ strong results in olympiads, competitions, and creative contests. I wish success to each and every one of you! Keep developing, believe in yourselves, and be worthy of the title ‘Interior Ministry Lyceum Student’.” Ivan Vyhivskyi

This year, 475 children from families of Ukraine’s Defenders have entered the lyceums as new students. On the first day of the school year, students in Dnipro, Vinnytsia, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Kryvyi Rih received support from:

• Interior Ministry leadership,
• National Guardsmen,
• border guards,
• rescuers, and
• police officers.

For second-year students, the year ahead will involve choosing a future profession, preparing for exams, and making their first major decisions - key milestones in their lyceum journey.

The Mission of Security-Focused Lyceums

Ukraine’s Interior Ministry security-focused lyceums continue their mission of preparing a new generation of professionals ready to serve their country.

This academic year is especially significant because many new students come from families of military personnel defending Ukraine. That connection underscores the importance of patriotic education and preparing young people for service in state institutions. The lyceums play a key role in shaping not only professional skills but also the values essential to the country’s stability and security.

As the new academic year begins, the commitment to practical training remains a priority. Recently, a group of 23 lyceum students embarked on a unique training program in Bukovel, demonstrating the ongoing collaboration between the Interior Ministry and Ukrzaliznytsia.
