Remembering Andriy Norov

According to Велика українська енциклопедія: June 6, 2023 marks what would have been the 49th birthday of Andriy Oleksiyovych Norov, a captain in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and a participant in the Russo-Ukrainian war who was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine. Born on June 6, 1977 in the city of Kirovohrad-now known as Kropyvnytskyi-Norov died on March 13, 2022 in the Kyiv region, an area that saw intense combat operations during the full-scale invasion.

Norov was granted the Hero of Ukraine distinction posthumously in 2022. Following the start of Russia's large-scale invasion on February 24, 2022, he took command of a motorized infantry battalion unit and organized the defense of the Kyiv Hydroelectric Power Plant. On March 5, 2022, he received an early promotion to the rank of captain and was appointed deputy battalion commander for combat training. He was laid to rest in his hometown of Kropyvnytskyi.
