Obtaining a residence card in Poland is often delayed not because of the work of state authorities, but due to the mistakes of the applicants themselves. The most common problems arise from incorrectly prepared documents, missed deadlines, or incomplete information in the forms. InPoland writes about this.

Expert on the legalization of foreigners Alina Mykytiuk notes that many applicants pay little attention to formal requirements, which can lead to their cases being delayed or even closed.

What mistakes do applicants most often make

One of the most common problems is the incomplete filling out of the application for the residence card. People often skip individual sections or fail to provide all the necessary data.

Another typical mistake is the untimely submission of additional documents or ignoring letters and requests from voivodeship offices. As a result, the procedure can be delayed for several months.

Foreigners also often change their place of residence or job after submitting documents but do not inform the relevant authorities about it. Due to the lack of up-to-date information, the review of the case may be suspended or closed.

Experts advise being careful with the set of documents as well. In some cases, applicants submit originals instead of copies, although usually only copies or notarized copies are required for the procedure.

Why you shouldn't hide information

Experts emphasize that when submitting documents, you cannot hide information about fines, administrative offenses, or court cases.

According to Alina Mykytiuk, inspectors have access to state registries and can verify all necessary information. In this case, bigger problems arise not from the violation itself, but from false information in the documents.

For those who are only planning legalization in Poland, experts recommend first ensuring stable official employment, obtaining a PESEL number, and determining a strategy for obtaining residency rights. They do not recommend rushing to submit documents without proper preparation.

Let us remind you that on June 10, new rules for vehicle registration came into effect in Poland, which are intended to reduce the number of bureaucratic procedures for drivers.
