Alimony for 9 Months: Debtors Paid a Record 11.6 Billion
According to hvylya.net: In the first 9 months of 2025, Ukrainian enforcement agencies managed to collect or recover 11.6 billion hryvnias in alimony. This is 29.4% more than in the same period last year. This information was provided by the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine.
As of October 1, 2025, more than 189 thousand people have outstanding alimony debts for an extended period. Of these, appropriate measures provided by law have been applied to 150 thousand individuals, such as temporary restrictions on the right to travel abroad, operate vehicles, and use weapons. The highest number of debtors who do not fulfill their alimony obligations for more than three months has been found in Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Odesa regions. The smallest number of such cases is observed in Chernivtsi, Ternopil, and Luhansk regions.
According to representatives of the Ministry of Justice: 'We remind you: alimony is not charity or a voluntary initiative, but a legal obligation of parents to their children. Those who evade this obligation must bear responsibility according to the law.'
The Ukrainian enforcement authorities have significantly strengthened their work on alimony collection, increasing the total amount of funds already recovered compared to the previous year. However, the issue of alimony non-payment remains relevant in several regions of the country, requiring further regulation and control. We are monitoring the situation around this issue and anticipating the imposition of relevant responsibilities for violations of legislative requirements.
