Kuwait Airport Radar System Damaged in Drone Strike, No Casualties Reported

Удар безпілотника пошкодив радіолокаційну станцію в Кувейті, загиблих немає.

Drone Attack Targets Kuwait International Airport

A drone attack on Kuwait International Airport on the evening of Saturday, March 14, resulted in damage to the facility's radar system. No casualties or injuries were reported from the incident. This marks at least the third such assault on the airport since the onset of the broader Middle East conflict, raising significant concerns for regional aviation security.

A Pattern of Previous Attacks

This follows two prior strikes on the airport, which occurred on March 12 and February 28. Those earlier attacks caused damage to airport infrastructure and injured several airport workers. In response to these events, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation stated it is 'taking all necessary measures to guarantee the safety of civil aviation.'

Separately, in early March, three U.S. F-15 fighter jets were shot down over Kuwait in a friendly fire incident. Abdullah Al-Rajhi, an airport official, commented on the recent drone attack, stating:

'the incident was handled according to the emergency action plan that has been in effect since the start of the regional crisis, with airport services acting in coordination with relevant state authorities.' - Abdullah Al-Rajhi

The repeated nature of these attacks underscores a deteriorating security environment in the Persian Gulf, a critical global transit corridor. These incidents highlight the complex challenges facing civilian aviation in conflict-adjacent zones. Kuwaiti authorities and relevant agencies are attempting to implement measures to prevent similar incidents, but the recurrence of attacks points to a pressing need for enhanced security systems. Continuous monitoring and threat analysis remain vital, as the safety of civil air travel becomes increasingly precarious against a backdrop of regional instability.
