As of April 27, 2026, Ukraine has recorded significant price hikes for meat products, including chicken, pork, and beef. Beef remains the most expensive category, with the average cost of beef goulash reaching 430.96 UAH per kilogram. These price insights come from monitoring data provided by 'Minfin'.
Price Breakdown by Meat Type
The average price of beef goulash varies across retail chains:
- Megamarket chain – 490 UAH per kg
- Metro – 323.89 UAH per kg
Additionally, the average cost of beef ribs stands at 278.13 UAH per kg, while at Novus, ribs are priced at 304 UAH per kg. Chicken prices range from 110 to 240 UAH depending on the cut. The average price for a whole chicken is 110.50 UAH per kg, drumsticks at 114 UAH per kg, thighs at 140.67 UAH per kg, and fillet at 239.67 UAH per kg. Notably, fillet from the 'Nasha Ryaba' brand costs 264.83 UAH per kg.
For pork, the average price of pork neck is 337.22 UAH per kg, with Metro selling it at 310.96 UAH per kg, while Novus and Megamarket each charge 349 UAH per kg. Other pork cuts also show steady price increases:
- Average price of shashlik (semi-finished) – 273.12 UAH per kg
- Belly – 231.47 UAH per kg
- Ribs – 231.47 UAH per kg
- Shoulder – 215.47 UAH per kg
- Brisket – 208.93 UAH per kg
Since the beginning of 2026, beef has become 33% more expensive, with prices reaching nearly 400 UAH per kg. These food price increases in Ukraine are driven by a combination of factors, including rising costs for feed and energy, higher logistics expenses, and a reduction in livestock and poultry numbers amid the full-scale war. Meanwhile, buckwheat has become the standout among staple products, surging 59% in price over just two months.
It is worth noting that Ukraine's annual inflation rate stood at 7.6% in February 2026. The National Bank of Ukraine projects inflation to reach 7.5% by the end of 2026, though some economists consider this forecast overly optimistic.
The rising cost of meat products in Ukraine reflects the country's challenging economic environment. High inflation, increasing production and logistics costs, and the ongoing impact of the war are all undermining access to basic food items for the population.
