Fuel Price Update in Ukraine
As of May 27, 2026, gas stations across Ukraine have revised their fuel prices. The average cost of A-95 gasoline now stands at 76.70 UAH per liter, while diesel fuel has climbed to an average of 87.35 UAH per liter. Some operators have reduced prices by 1–2 UAH, but the most expensive options remain at chains like Oкко, WOG, and Socar. In contrast, the most affordable fuel is available at Ukrnafta and BRSM-Nafta stations.
Cashback Program and Market Trends
A cashback program has been active in Ukraine since March 20, 2026, offering refunds of 15% on diesel, 10% on gasoline, and 5% on autogas. This initiative has been extended through May 31, 2026. Maximum savings per liter can reach 11 UAH for diesel, 7 UAH for gasoline, and 2 UAH for autogas. However, starting May 1, 2026, the monthly compensation cap per user is 500 UAH.
Diesel prices in Ukraine have surged by 33.9%. In March 2026, diesel supply volumes remained consistent with 2025 levels. Yet, nearly all light petroleum products (over 85%) rely on imports. Between February 26 and March 31, 2026, Platts diesel prices jumped 86%, import costs rose 58%, and pump prices increased 39%. Average gasoline prices at stations climbed 16%, while diesel saw a 39% rise.
'The main objective factor driving price increases is that, since last year—specifically after the shutdown of Ukraine’s largest and essentially sole oil refinery—almost all light petroleum products, over 85% in percentage terms, depend on imported oil products.' Pavlo Kyrylenko, Head of the Antimonopoly Committee
The Antimonopoly Committee also reported on its market investigation, concluding that no monopolistic practices were detected. Meanwhile, experts highlight several factors influencing price changes at gas stations, including:
- rising demand volumes;
- shrinking supply and inventory levels;
- higher actual procurement costs for petroleum products;
- increased logistics expenses;
- inability to compare storage conditions and capacities for fuel within Ukraine.
This fuel price update in Ukraine reflects a challenging market landscape, where reliance on imports is a key driver. Rising diesel and gasoline costs could significantly impact transportation expenses and the country’s overall inflation rate. The cashback program may partially offset consumer costs, but the situation calls for careful monitoring and further analysis.
