New Protocol for Kyiv Residents During Power Cuts
DTEK has implemented a new procedure for Kyiv residents to follow during extended power outages. Residents are now advised to first contact their building management company (ZhEK) or homeowners' association (OSBB) to check the internal building wiring. Only after this step, if necessary, should the building representatives then contact DTEK.
The servicing organizations must inspect the condition of the internal building networks. If these are found to be in order, the ZhEK or OSBB should contact DTEK through a dedicated section on the company's website intended for legal entities. This change is significant as only 15% of power failures are related to DTEK's external networks and infrastructure, highlighting the importance of checking internal systems first.
Responding to Service Calls
DTEK's website will continue to operate normally and accept consumer requests. Company representatives stated,
“This approach will allow us to restore power faster. After all, only 15% of outages are related to DTEK's networks and facilities.”The energy company assures residents:
“We will get through this winter together!”
The introduction of this new protocol by DTEK is a direct response to the challenges Kyiv residents face amid frequent power disruptions. This system, which prioritizes checking internal building networks, is designed to reduce the load on the utility company and improve response times to genuine external faults. For context, Ukraine's energy grid has been under severe strain due to targeted attacks on infrastructure. This streamlined process could positively impact the speed of power restoration and reduce waiting times for consumers across the capital.
